Brent E. Smedley started to play the drums at age seven and began private lessons at thirteen for five years under the direction of Jimmy Glenn Sr. He studied at the University of North Florida taking percussion lessons and ensemble under Charlotte Mabry (who is the principal percussionist of the Jacksonville Symphony) and received drum lessons from Ricky Kirkland. Brent played professionally with pop, rock, and heavy metal bands as well as jazz bands, German bands (Oktoberfest), steel drum bands, and oldie bands. He toured with international recording artist Iced Earth from 1996-1999 playing in both the states and several countries of Europe. Brent performed on a gold record (Greece Alive in Athens by Iced Earth 1999) and continued to play on over fifteen other albums and many demos. He currently has a cd called “Smedley Sampler” which highlights some of his past work. Currently he plays for two bands, Tempest Reign and Odyssey. Tempest Reign has one EP out and one on the way and Odyssey is working on a new album at the moment.
